The Contributions of Sujit Choudhry

The study of comparative law is an area of academic interest that has been growing in popularity ever since the 18th century when it first became of interest due to the increase in trading among nation-states as well as the increase in overall interaction among different cultures from all over the world. The study of comparative law is specifically a study of different legal systems around the world and the study of how they are not only similar, but also a study of how they are different. The interesting aspect that has gained much attention within the study of legal systems is the fact that different legal systems not only come from laws that have been implemented by the government. Other legal systems can also come from the cultural aspect of every day life as well as a religious aspect that has established or has helped to establish specific laws in almost every society in present day.

This area of study is important to not only learn what has worked as a legal system in the past, but also to learn more about what types of legal systems have failed. Of the many influential members of the study of comparative law, one individual in particular stands out due to not only his innovative ideas, but also due to his innovative research that has gained much admiration from the peers that he works with as well as with the students that he teaches and conducts research with.

This individual is Sujit Choudhry, an individual who was born in India and who has always been a supporter of the idea of globalization due to the fact that he believes that globalization eliminates many problems that are currently being faced in present day. This individual has demonstrated his talent for law through not only the degrees that he has received, but also by the research that he has already conducted. Mr. Choudhry is proud to be the first Indian who earned a position as the dean of one of the top law schools in the United States, if the top school in the world.
